We took part in the RSPB Big School’s Birdwatch.
The boys in the Zone had fun learning to name and recognise the birds we see outside our window. We learnt how to use our binoculars. We made bird feeders to encourage the birds to come and covered the windows to make a hide.
We were all ready to go!
We were delighted to see so many birds visit our feeders.
It’s turning out to be a busy time in the Juniors. Not only are we learning our dance for the Special School Dance festival, we are also going swimming every Monday. Our topic of Ancient Civilisations is very popular and we’re excited to find out more about Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome although we’re not very sure if we’d like to live there!
Ronald has been enjoying swimming and horse riding, “in my first lesson I knew how to trot. Not straight away but by the end I was doing rising trot. I am looking forward to more lessons. I love horses. There is even a horse that looks like a unicorn.”
Debbie is enjoying everything this term. She has already learned the arm movements for dance and is doing well in swimming. Her class, The Otters are making soup each week to eat after they have been to the pool.
The Juniors have been learning about ancient civilisations. Miss Douglas’s class were inspired by the film Percy Jackson to study Ancient Greece. They have been particularly interested in mythical creatures and have used what they have found out to write some poems.

Things in Ms Shimming’s class must have been a little scary this Halloween. Just look at the stories they have created.
…if you dare!
Spooky Story by Ronald
In the woods millions upon millions of people had their arms cut off from their elbow.
They are all known as Thing 1, Thing 2…
The Things live on trees. You may see them on Halloween night! The wicked witch tries to capture them for her spells to make her human.
The Bloody Mary Story by Munya
I saw Bloody Mary ruining my kitchen and cooking with her blood
I smelled iron
She tried to kill me by making me drink it but I refused to take it, she got angry
Big clanging noises she threw pots, pans and knives
Felt like I was in a dodgeball round
The Spooky House by Dylan
Once upon a time there was a spooky house. It was making weird witchy noises. The clouds were turning black and the witch flew into the gooey basement. The owner left the house without him knowing the witch was in the house. When the witch went upstairs it was all broken and the halls were gooey, slimy and disgusting. The moon turned orange like a pumpkin. There was a chair that kept walking by itself and all the witchy noises were from a girl playing the piano.
Matthew has made some amazing clay models this week.
He made them with Mr Smith. They then painted them – the tank in camouflage colours and the UFO in silver… (when they are dry we will post the painted versions another day on the website).
Here they are – now painted..
Now look what Matthew and Mr Smith have made – Fantatsic!
